By analyzing arsenic (As3+) levels
in soils and the data of cancer registries and statistics, recent studies by
Putila and Guo revealed a correlation between the sediment levels of As3+ and
human lung cancer, and concluded that soil As3+ contributes
to more than 5,000 lung cancer cases annually in the US [1].
